Answers to common questions about starting therapy
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals, and your history. This helps me understand your unique situation and begin creating a personalized treatment plan. It's also a chance for you to ask questions and see if we're a good fit to work together.
The duration of therapy varies based on your individual needs and goals. Some people find relief in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We'll regularly assess your progress and adjust our approach as needed. My goal is to help you build the skills and insights you need, not to keep you in therapy indefinitely.
Yes! I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant online therapy sessions. This allows for greater flexibility and accessibility, whether you're at home, at work, or traveling. Online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as in-person sessions for many concerns, and many clients appreciate the convenience and comfort of meeting virtually.
Individual sessions are $175 and couples sessions are $200. I accept several insurance plans including Alameda Alliance, Cigna/Evernorth, Optum, and UnitedHealthcare. I also offer out-of-network benefits and a sliding scale for those who qualify. A sliding scale is available for those who need it. Please contact me to discuss your specific situation.
Individual therapy focuses on your personal growth, emotional well-being, and individual challenges. Couples therapy addresses relationship dynamics and helps both partners improve communication and connection. Sometimes people benefit from both simultaneously. During our initial conversation, I can help you determine which approach—or combination—would best serve your goals.
I take a strengths-based approach to ADHD, recognizing that it comes with unique gifts as well as challenges. We'll work together to understand how ADHD affects your daily life, develop practical strategies for executive functioning challenges, and build on your natural strengths. This might include techniques for time management, organization, emotional regulation, and self-advocacy.
I'm a proud member of Mindful Evolutions Therapy, a group practice offering a wide range of therapeutic services. If you're seeking in-person sessions or specialists in other areas, our team can help.
